Antique Czech or Bohemian Swallowtail Glass Art Paperweight Composed of Short Colored Filigree and Aventurine

Dimensions: 3-5/8” diameter & 2-3/8” tall

Makers Mark: Unsigned

Condition: Excellent with minor wear to the upper surface and shelf wear to the base.

A very beautiful true-to-life yellow swallowtail and flowers composed of numerous sections of short filigree and colorful aventurine arranged using a mosaic style technique floating over a tuft of opaque white ground. A pair of complex millefiori are found in the hind-wings but it is my opinion that these originated from some other origin; probably from France or more likely Belgium. The maker of these butterflies is unknown but they are very rare and have a unique aesthetic appeal. This example is particularly attractive.
