One of the most captivating elements one could hope to find in an antique paperweight are silhouette canes. Most of the makers of the Classical Era made such canes, some featuring people, animals from far away lands, mythical creatures, insects, and flora. This rare carpet ground pleasantly highlights five silhouette canes featuring, two dogs, a dancer, a devil dancing with a dog, and a giraffe. The coral canes which make up the carpeted millefiori ground are delicate and naturalistic and compliment the silhouettes well.
